Koi Strain

Koi guppies take their name from the pattern rather than the ancestry: a pale body with a strong red or orange block over the head and shoulders, the way a koi carp is marked. On the albino koi lines the block sits against a translucent body, which makes the contrast sharper than on a standard koi.The red ear marking is the trait most people are actually buying, and it is the one most likely to be weak in cheap stock. It should be a defined patch, not a smudge that fades into the body.Our koi pairs are bred and grown out in Pune on live baby brine shrimp, Otohime and NRD, which is what keeps the red block dense as the fish matures. Pairs start at Rs 350, with the ribbon version at Rs 500 because it takes considerably longer to grow out.
