Frequently Asked Questions

Everything people ask us before ordering guppies from Pune. If your question is not here, message us on WhatsApp at +91 72498 87278 and we will answer it.

Ordering and delivery

How long does delivery take?

If the strain is in stock, Pune orders are delivered within 24 hours – same day if you order before 11:30 AM, next day if you order after it. Everything else, including strains we still need to grow out, takes four to six days depending on your location and the route. We bag the fish on the day they ship, so they spend as little time in transit as possible. Full details are on our Shipping Policy page.

How are the guppies packed?

Each pair is bagged with enough water and oxygen for the journey, then placed in insulated packaging matched to the route and the season. The packing is designed to keep the temperature stable, which matters far more than speed on a long route.

Can I collect my fish from a railway station?

Yes. Train delivery to your nearest railway station can be arranged on request for select routes. Message us before you order so we can confirm whether your station works.

Can I pick up in person?

Local pickup around Pune can be arranged on request. We are at Raje Chowk, Near Pawar College, Ambegaon Pathar, Pune 411046. Please message us first so we can have your pair ready.

What if a fish arrives dead?

We replace it free of charge. You will need a clear, unedited unboxing video that starts before the box is opened and shows the fish inside before anything is removed from the packaging. Send it to us on WhatsApp within 24 hours. The full process is on our Returns & Refunds page.

A strain I want is sold out. Will it come back?

Almost always. We breed in small batches, so strains rotate in and out of stock as each batch grows out. Message us on WhatsApp with the strain you want and we will tell you roughly when the next batch is due.

About the fish

Are guppies sold individually or as pairs?

As breeding pairs. A pair gives you a male and a female of the same strain, which is what you need if you want to grow the line on rather than just keep a few fish.

Are your fish imported or home-bred?

Home-bred. Every pair is raised in our own tanks in Pune. We do not sell wild-caught fish and we do not resell stock we have not grown out ourselves.

What do you feed your guppies?

Fry start on freshly hatched live baby brine shrimp from day one, then move on to Otohime and NRD as they colour up. That is the main reason our fish carry thicker bodies and denser colour than flake-only stock.

How long do guppies live?

Most fancy guppies live one to three years, and the care they get has more effect on that than the strain does. We go through the numbers by strain, and what shortens or extends a guppy’s life, in our guppy lifespan guide.

Which strain should I start with?

If this is your first fancy guppy, pick a hardy strain and a simple tail type before moving on to ribbon or halfmoon fins. Our beginner’s guide to choosing guppies walks through it, and the strain guide explains what separates each line.

Once your guppies arrive

How do I acclimatise new guppies?

Float the sealed bag in your tank for 20 to 30 minutes so the temperature evens out, then add small amounts of your tank water to the bag over the next 20 minutes before netting the fish across. Do not tip the transport water into your tank. Our water preparation guide covers getting the tank ready before they land.

What temperature do guppies need?

Most fancy guppies do best between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius, held steady. Swings matter more than the exact number. See our guppy tank temperature guide.

How soon will they breed?

A healthy pair usually starts producing fry within a few weeks of settling in, provided the water is stable and they are well fed. Our breeding guide covers pairing, breeding cages and raising the fry.

One of my fish looks unwell. What now?

Message us on WhatsApp and describe what you are seeing. Our support does not stop at delivery, and we can usually help you identify the problem. Our common guppy diseases guide covers symptoms, causes and treatment.
