Dumbo Ear Strain
Dumbo ear guppies are named for the oversized pectoral fins that stick out like ears and flick as the fish swims. It is a slow trait to grow out. The ears only reach full size at around four months, which is why a proper dumbo pair always costs more than a standard guppy of the same colour.They need a little more swimming room than an ordinary guppy because those pectorals create drag, so give a pair a one foot tank at minimum and keep the flow gentle. A strong outlet will tire them and can fray the edges of the ears.Everything in this category was bred and grown out in our own tanks in Pune on live baby brine shrimp and imported feeds. We ship juveniles rather than full adults, because a younger dumbo settles into your water instead of fighting it, and the ears keep developing in front of you.
