Description
The Platinum White Dumbo Ear Guppy combines a bright, pearly-white body with a bold black collar just behind the gills and oversized, wing-like pectoral fins that mark it as a true Dumbo Ear strain. The flowing white tail and dorsal fin are broad and translucent, catching a soft shimmer as the fish swims, while the sharp black band across the throat gives every individual a clean, high-contrast look.
Because the body colour is so pale, the black throat patch and large pectoral fins stand out clearly even from a distance, making this strain easy to show off in a dark-substrate tank. The oversized fins are noticeably broader at the base than a standard guppy, and most mature males carry a slight flare to the dorsal fin that complements the wide caudal fin.
Every Platinum White Dumbo Ear Guppy from Classic Guppy is home-bred in Pune, never wild-caught, and raised on live baby brine shrimp for strong fin growth and clean white pigmentation. Orders ship in insulated, heat-packed boxes with a live arrival guarantee, and you can choose a single pair, a trio, or a proven breeding pair. Because of the large pectoral fins, keep the Platinum White Dumbo Ear in a well-cycled aquarium of at least 15 gallons with gentle to moderate flow, since strong currents can tire fish carrying this much extra fin surface. A heater set between 24-27°C, soft filtration, and subdued lighting will help keep the white body looking clean and bright rather than dull.
A varied diet of high-quality flake, live or frozen baby brine shrimp, and occasional Larviva Mysis supports strong fin development and steady breeding across generations. As with other Dumbo Ear strains, avoid crossing with standard-finned guppies if you want to keep the large-finned trait consistent in your fry.
Tip: Guppies are shoaling fish and settle in best with company – a trio or a proven breeding pair is a great starting point for a lively, well-settled shoal.
