Description

This standard bodied guppy carries an olive silver body traced all over with a fine dark lace netting, a pattern that runs from just behind the gill plate back along the flank toward the peduncle. It is a subtler look than a solid coloured fish, the kind of patterning that shows up best under close inspection or good tank lighting rather than jumping out from across the room.

The caudal fin is where the fish really opens up. A warm red orange fills the tail from base to edge, and running through that orange is the same fine dark lace tracing found on the body, giving the fin a netted, almost lattice like texture rather than one flat block of colour. The dorsal fin carries the same red orange base with matching lace tracing, tying the whole fish together into one consistent pattern from shoulder to tail tip.

Body shape here is standard rather than short or elongated, giving the fish a balanced, classic guppy silhouette that lets the lace patterning and red orange fins do the visual work without any unusual body proportions competing for attention. It is a good example of how much detail a guppy can carry even without a dramatically shaped body or an oversized fin structure.

Males show the complete package, the olive silver lace bodied look paired with fully netted red orange caudal and dorsal fins. Females stay considerably plainer as is typical for guppies, rounder through the body with only a faint suggestion of the lace pattern and much smaller, less colourful fins.

Lace patterned strains like this one tend to be fairly forgiving in terms of hardiness, since there is no exaggerated body shape or oversized fin structure to complicate their care. A well filtered tank with stable temperature and a varied diet is really all this fish needs to look its best. Good filtration matters more for keeping water clarity high so the lace detailing on both body and fins stays easy to appreciate, since cloudy or poorly maintained water can make fine patterning much harder to see and can also dull colour over time.

A sponge filter or a power filter with a guard over the intake both work fine for this strain since the fins, while nicely coloured, are not exaggerated or particularly fragile. Reasonable tankmates include other peaceful livebearers, small tetras, corydoras and similar community fish, while anything prone to nipping fins is still worth avoiding on general principle even with a hardier finned strain like this one.

As with all guppies, this is a livebearing species, so a healthy pair kept in stable conditions will produce broods of fully formed, free swimming fry roughly every four weeks without any egg laying involved. Feeding a mix of quality flake or micro pellets daily, supplemented with live or frozen foods like baby brine shrimp or daphnia a few times a week, supports steady growth and helps both the lace pattern and the red orange fin colour come through clearly as the fish matures.

Sold as a breeding pair.

Lighting plays a bigger role with lace patterned fish than people often expect. Strong overhead lighting combined with a darker substrate tends to make the fine dark netting on both the body and fins much easier to appreciate, while a brightly coloured or reflective substrate can wash the pattern out and make it look weaker than it really is. A weekly partial water change of around twenty five percent, paired with regular filter maintenance, keeps the water clear enough for that detail to stand out and helps the fish hold steady colour over time rather than fading under poor conditions.
