Description

This metal black guppy carries a deep glossy navy black body colour, dark enough to look almost pure black under normal lighting yet revealing a subtle navy undertone whenever stronger light catches it directly. That kind of colour depth is the hallmark of a good metallic strain, looking flat and solid from a distance but showing real richness and shine up close.

Cutting across that dark body is a bright metallic streak running along the shoulder, shifting between green and gold depending on the angle it is viewed from. That single band of shimmer stands out sharply against the surrounding black, acting almost like a highlight that draws the eye straight to the front half of the fish before it moves on to take in the rest of the body and fins.

The caudal fin follows the body colour closely, spreading into a large solid black fan with the same subtle navy depth found on the body itself. A sponge filter or a guarded power filter intake both suit this fish fine since the fins, while a good solid size, are not fragile or oversized.

Good tankmates include other peaceful livebearers, small tetras, corydoras and similar calm community fish, with fin nippers best avoided as with any guppy strain. Feeding a varied diet of quality flake or micro pellets daily, along with live or frozen baby brine shrimp added a few times a week, supports healthy growth and helps that metallic green gold shoulder streak stay bright and well defined against the black body.

As livebearers, a healthy pair kept in stable water will produce broods of fully formed, free swimming fry roughly every four weeks, with no egg laying stage involved.
