Description

This pink mosaic guppy carries a body colour that reads as almost translucent, a pale salmon pink that lets a bit of the fish’s underlying structure show through in the right light, giving it a delicate, soft look compared to a more solid bodied strain. It is a subtle colour on the body itself, which sets up a nice contrast once you reach the fins.

Both the caudal and dorsal fins open into a warm orange red base, and scattered through that base sits a mosaic pattern of wine red blotches, each one fading gradually toward a pale edge rather than stopping in a hard line. That soft fade at the blotch edges is one of the more distinctive features of this strain, giving the fin pattern a blended, watercolour like quality rather than sharp, clearly defined spots.

As with any mosaic strain, no two fish carry quite the same blotch arrangement, so a small group will naturally show some variation from one individual to the next even though they all share the same overall pink and wine red colour scheme. It is a strain that rewards a closer look, since the blending between the wine red blotches and the orange red base is easy to miss from a distance but very noticeable up close.

Males show the complete pink mosaic look, the pale salmon body paired with orange red fins carrying the wine red blotch pattern. Females are rounder bodied and considerably plainer as guppy females typically are, with only a soft hint of the pink tone and much smaller fins showing little to none of the mosaic patterning.

This is a generally easy strain to keep, needing nothing beyond standard guppy care, good filtration, stable temperature and a consistent water change routine. A sponge filter or a guarded power filter intake both work well since the fins are a standard size and not especially delicate.

Reasonable tankmates include other peaceful livebearers, small tetras, corydoras and similar calm community fish, with fin nippers best avoided so the mosaic pattern stays intact. Feeding a varied diet of quality flake or micro pellets daily, along with live or frozen baby brine shrimp or daphnia a few times a week, supports steady growth and helps keep both the pink body tone and the wine red fin blotches looking their best.

As livebearers, a settled pair will produce broods of fully formed, free swimming fry roughly every four weeks, with no egg laying stage involved. Regular partial water changes of around twenty five percent weekly, combined with steady feeding, help this pink mosaic strain hold its delicate colouring and blotch pattern as it grows from a young fish into a fully coloured adult.

Sold as a breeding pair.

The soft fade seen in this fish’s blotch pattern can be more or less pronounced from one individual to the next, and younger fish sometimes show a fainter version of the wine red colouring that deepens as they mature over the first few months. Keeping water quality consistent through that growth period makes a real difference, and a routine of weekly partial water changes around twenty five percent, along with steady filtration, helps both the translucent pink body tone and the wine red fin blotches come in fully and stay looking their best. A varied diet that includes some live or frozen food alongside daily flake or micro pellets also supports stronger colour development as the fish reaches adult size.

Good filtration and stable temperature round out the basics this strain needs to look its best over the long run.
